OUR CURRENT PROTOCOL AS OF (7th Feb, 2000)
Click on the above link to read about what my wife & I take for Anti-Aging, when & how. We do not use a commercial product, opting instead to create our personal blend of many proven supplements in a easy to take powder mix which results in a much lower cost and wider ranging supplement program than would otherwise be available or possible. The protocol seems to work well for us and many friends worldwide.
We are in our 50's, look in our 40's and feel in our 30's.
Below you can read the results of my research and personal results on the Anti-Aging trail.

The effects of 6 months
of Growth Hormone on muscle & fat
reversed 10 - 20 years
of aging. (Rudman
90)
As we age, skin loses elasticity, muscles turn to fat & the immune system struggles. Brain chemicals that dull pain, relieve anxiety, help memory & pleasure drop. Hormones, that help cells to reproduce correctly, decline with age,
REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS IN ANTI-AGING RESEARCH
The US National Institute of Aging is confirming earlier medical studies that increased levels of Growth, DHEA, Testosterone & Estrogen hormones reverse age related changes in bones, muscles, fat, skin & nerves.
WHAT IS GROWTH HORMONE (GH)?
Produced by the pituitary gland, GH is part of the trunk of the body’s biochemical tree. By 50, GH falls to 10% of its youthful peak. Children eat & don’t get fat. Their bones are strong & flexible. Now, fat just will NOT come off & a fall breaks bones. This is partly due to low GH levels & the resultant withered leaves of the body’s bio tree.
Growth Hormone is responsible for:
GROWTH HORMONE DEFICIENCY (GHD) IS A CLINICAL SYNDROME
The Research Centre for Endocrinology & Metabolism, in Goteborg, Sweden (Thord 95) & St. Thomas Hospital, London, UK, (Powrie 95) along with many others, have studied GHD.
Growth Hormone Deficiency is responsible for:
GH has been shown to reduce bad (LDL) & increased good (HDL) cholesterol levels (Jorgensen 89).
GH has central nervous system stimulating effects (Rosen 95, Johansson 89). High levels of Beta-endorphin (a morphine like opioid) were found in GH users (Hohansson 89).
PHYSICAL EFFECTS OF INCREASED GROWTH HORMONE

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR LEVEL OF GROWTH HORMONE
The amino acid combination Arginine PyroGlutamate & Lysine (APGL) stimulates the pituitary to produce a 700% increase in GH with-in 90 minutes & still up 300% 8 hours later (Isidori 81).
The amino acid L-Glutamine has also been shown to provide a 420% boost in GH with-in 90 minutes.

WHAT TO EXPECT USING A GH BOOSTER
I am 53, 190cm (6'3"), 86kg (190lbs). I use 1g of Glutamine and 1.5g of APGL, Monday - Friday, just as I awake. I then do about 30 minutes of exercise, shower and eat a low carb, high protein breakfast.
I normally don't feel "Hungry" for the rest of the day as the GH pulse produced by the APGL acts directly on my bodies fat cells and initiates a process called "Lipolysis". Lipolysis causes fat cells to release Fatty Acids, which the body can use as an energy source. The GH pulse also helps to get my bodies muscles to stop burning Glucose and burn the released Free Fatty Acids instead. The GH pulse acts like a dual gate keeper, releasing Fatty Acids from fat cells and switching muscles into a burn Fatty Acid mode.
This GH action is totally
natural and is what happens at night.
Here is a 24 hour record
of natural GH release.

Dietary factors which can blunt amino assisted or night time GH pulse:
The results after the first 2 months of my APGL trial (now 4 years ago):
I have been using a mixture of several supplements with quite a bit of success. This mixture is a ALL powder mix and is based on the use of L-Glutamine AND APGL. Please read the initial information panel on the page.
I have been following the Canadian Air Force's 5BX exercise program for about 2 years now. About 35 years ago, I was introduced to the program via the US Air Force. For me, it seems to work well then and still does now. The 5BX program has smoothly graduated and targeted achievement levels. No Gym equipment is required, only SWEAT & muscles. I'm currently at Level 3B+ (better than a 35 year old, I'm 53). I'm working on Level 3A which should see me right. I do my 5BX about 15 minutes after I take my morning supplements. I do the walk in the afternoon or after dinner (depends on the weather).
HOW THE BODY USES FOOD or LOW CARB DIETS and PROTEIN
If you are on an Atkins or other low Carb & high Fat diet and hit a plateau where Fat loss stops, try reducing dietary Fat intake and replace it with Protein. Eat the same amount of calories, just move some of the calories from Fat to Protein. This way the body will continue to burn calories at the same rate, but source more of it's Fat based fuel from stored Fatty Acids.
I try to reduce dietary Fats as low as possible. My concern are partly based on the diagram below which clearly shows that eating Fats can can't provide the body with Proteins, Amino acids or Glucose.
Dietary Fats can only be burnt or stored. It that way, it is a poor food source.
Both Protein and Carbs can be converted by the body as needed to what ever it required. Amino acids are used by the body to build all hormones and enzymes. If we don't eat enough Protein, the body will strip our muscles to get what it needs. Eating adequate amounts of Protein will stop this happening. Eating excess amounts of Protein, just like eating excess Carbs will result in Fat storage.
The V ^ > < symbols indicate the direction of conversion the body may chose to use.

GH CAUSES FAT, NOT CARBS, TO BE BURNT FOR FUEL
Here is a medical paper showing that one of the functions of GH is to switch our mitochondria (energy producers) from burning Glucose to burning Fatty Acids.
LIFE EXTENSION FOUNDATION PAPER ON GLUTAMINE SUPPLEMENTATION
Here you can read the latest information on Glutamine supplementation. In my opinion the Life Extension Foundation is the best source for unbiased, middle of the road information on a very wide range of Anti-Aging issues.
Here you will find the LEF's monthly updated list of many interesting medical papers. Easy to read and keep informed as to the latest in Anti-Aging research in summary / abstract form.

I have no financial interest in the LEF, but I do believe it is a very good source of unbiased, easy to read and current information.
SIMPLE TO DO BODY SHAPE MEASUREMENTS
NOW TO NATURALLY "INCREASE" GH RELEASE
WHAT IS THE "GROWTH HORMONE FRIENDLY ZONE"?
What we eat, when we eat, how much we eat, when we exercise, when we take amino or injected GH is not random. There are simple ways to create the best internal environment to make a GH boost work the hardest to help the body to work in more youthful ways.
ALL YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT FATTY ACIDS BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK.
Here you will find an excellent, if somewhat technical but readable site with a self teaching tutorial about Fatty Acids. Read and learn something about how the body stores, retrieves, burns and converts Fat in the body.
Here is a link to the main NetBioChem Home Page with many other tutorials on the body. An excellent site.
MAMMALIAN METABOLIC HOMEOSTATIS
This site has the best overall information on how our bodies process, store & use fuel. Here you can read how the body handles Carbs, Fats and Proteins. There are many excellent diagrams which make understanding how our bodies work much easier. Highly Recommended.
Type in a food and quickly get a detailed breakdown of the foods components. Suprising how many Carbs there are in a number of foods I didn't think had a high carb content. Also excellent to check for saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat content.
You might also want to have a look at this Carbohydrate Tables site. They have compiled tables on most foods for quick reference.
MY GH LINKS & ANTI AGING DISCUSSION GROUPS
Here is a collection of GH links. If you know of others, please feel free to send them to me.
These are the 3 Anti Aging discussion groups I have found to be of continual value.
Beta Alistein is a exciting anti-aging supplement for our face and hands. This product was discovered by Australian CSIRO scientists and is unlike anything you have ever read about or tried. My wife and I have just started to use the product and will report back here with our results.
After several months of use, neither my wife or myself have noticed any real benefits. I still believe Beta Alistein (L-Carnosine) can achieve good anti-aging results. Why it didn't work for us, I don't know.
ALCOHOL, VITAMIN B1 (THIAMINE)
If you drink, take a 2 x 100mg tablet of Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) before you start & at bed time (take APGL in the morning). NO memory loss, dead brain cells or hangover. It REALLY works & the only side effects are good. I buy 100 x 100mg tablets for $6 at any chemist. Checkout Richard Howard's Excellent Australian Paper.
DO NOT DRIVE AFTER DRINKING!
ITS A REALLY GOOD WAY TO
KILL YOURSELF, SOMEONE ELSE OR WORSE!
I have read ALL of the following several times (Guess I am a slow learner).
